Ducks in Trees

Morning hunt in a tree surrounded wetland in A. Christianson's. Lots of ducks feeding in peas in adjacent Renner land. Monte and Glendon had a super hunt in this wetland a couple days previous. Wind didn't come from predicted direction (light from N rather than hoped for SE). Lots of ducks came, lots didn't finish, but enough did that I bagged 5 nice adult drakes. Six of us hunted (Monte, Glendon, Toby, Will, and Todd), we bagged 26 total greenheads.

Lots of the ducks have moved west to Monger WPA, hope for another hunt there in the next few days.

Ducks once more

Monte and Glendon found large flight of ducks in the Renner area early AM. Went out in the afternoon for an evening hunt. Very huge flocks of ducks in the area, set up in a pond some of them were using (most were in a pea field pond with no cover). A fairly large group dropped into the decoys from way high. There after mostly singles came in along with a couple small groups. Large flocks went by frequently but usually did not decoy. We each shot 5 nice adult drakes.

Duck hunt

Major snow storm dumped 8-10", hunted a pond sw of Crosby (south of Schwanz), ducks didn't want the pond we picked, and decoys were quickly covered with snow, so we moved to a pond just to the east. Ducks came into the pond continually and shots were decoyed-like shots in spite of us not using any decoys.

TP and I each shot 5 greenheads, very nice, fully feathered adults for the most part. Picked all 5.
